Privacy Policy

How Mitgo collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our ride-sharing app as a passenger or a driver.

Last updated: 17 Sep 2026

1. Introduction

Mitgo ("we", "us", "our") operates a ride-sharing platform that connects drivers travelling along a route with passengers who want to share that journey. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we process, why we process it, and the rights you have over it.

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data we collect

Depending on how you use the app, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Account data: name, phone number, email address, profile photo and password credentials.
  • Driver verification data: driving licence, identity documents, selfie verification, vehicle details (make, model, year, colour, licence plate) and related documents.
  • Ride and booking data: routes, pickup and drop-off points, departure times, seats booked, ride status, ratings and feedback.
  • Location data: your device location while a ride is in progress, used for navigation, boarding confirmation and safety features.
  • Payment data: token purchases, fares, refunds and wallet activity. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never stored by us.
  • Communications: in-app chat messages with other riders, support requests and SOS alerts.
  • Emergency contacts you choose to add to your account.
  • Technical data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, login activity and crash logs.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account and verify your identity.
  • To verify drivers and their vehicles before they can publish rides.
  • To match passengers with rides, manage bookings and send ride reminders.
  • To process payments, token purchases, driver payouts and refunds.
  • To provide safety features, including SOS alerts and notifying your emergency contacts.
  • To respond to support requests and resolve disputes.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and violations of our Terms & Conditions.
  • To improve the app and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

4. How we share your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to run the service:

  • With other riders: drivers and passengers on the same ride see each other's first name, profile photo and ratings. Vehicle details, including the licence plate, are shown to a passenger only once their booking is confirmed.
  • Your phone number and email address are never shown to other riders. Contact between riders happens through in-app chat.
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf, such as payment processing (Stripe), SMS and push notification delivery, cloud hosting and maps.
  • With authorities when required by law, or where needed to protect the safety of a rider or the public.

5. Location data

Location is collected only in connection with a ride — from departure until arrival — and is not tracked continuously in the background. Detailed GPS points are deleted after a retention period; summary data such as distance travelled may be kept with the ride record.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Account data is kept while your account is active. Ride, payment and chat records may be retained after that for dispute handling, accounting and legal obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymised.

7. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, access controls and restricted administrative access. No system is completely secure, so please keep your login credentials private.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data and account.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

9. Children

The app is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be communicated in the app.
